Lord Vaizey, Chair of the UK-ASEAN Business Council, leads UK business delegation meeting with H.E. Gobind Singh, Minister of Digital of Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Friday 24 October  

Lord Vaizey led UKABC’s 15 strong business delegation for a very positive meeting with H.E. Gobind Singh, Minister of Digital of Malaysia. 

The Minister shared valuable insights with the UK delegation, updating on progress to close the digital divide through strong leadership and sharing progress on the roll out programmes that enable businesses in Malaysia to leverage the nation’s great technology foundations to boost future growth. 
 
The Digital Economy makes a growing contribution to Malaysia’s economy with a projected share of GDP of 30% by 2030, up from 25.5% in 2025. This growth will be enhanced through ASEAN wide initiatives including the Digital Economy Framework Agreement and rapid AI developments. The UK business delegation was able to demonstrate their support for Malaysia’s growth in this area and share their expertise on AI, cyber security governance and awareness and the importance of embedding digital skills throughout the economy.
