DBT Manila’s Aid-Funded Business Newsletter - Asian Development Bank
Welcome back to the quarterly issue of the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) Manila’s Aid-Funded Business Newsletter, with a special focus on the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The ADB is a multilateral climate development bank that envisions a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia and the Pacific.
DBT Manila actively engages with ADB and maintains relationships with key contacts to support UK companies pursuing ADB opportunities. These could be direct contracts for goods and services or new project opportunities funded by ADB in the Philippines and across the APAC region.
This newsletter provides the latest information on ADB news, activities, and opportunities to UK companies, partners, and other stakeholders.

The New Operating Model
ADB’s new operating model has been in effect since the 30th of June 2023. It has repurposed its operations to increase its capacity as Asia’s Climate Bank; strengthen its work to develop the private sector and mobilize private investments in the region; provide a larger range of high-quality development solutions for its Developing Member Countries; and modernize ways of working to make it more responsive, agile and closer to clients.
ADB’s 5 regional departments and resident missions in countries with operations have become a single window for all its products and services. Staff and expertise from the sectors, themes, and other specializations have undergone a restructure, resulting in more staff working in the field that is closer to clients.

Asia and the Pacific Transport Forum
Tagged as the flagship transport sector event with capacity development training held last 14-17 May 2024. This year’s theme is titled “Clean Transport for All”, with a heavy focus on ADB as the climate bank and how the transport sector can decarbonize as well as ensure climate resilience of transport infrastructure.
The key objective of the forum is for ADB to showcase their technical and financial assistance and for DMC officials to gain a broader understanding of critical and emerging solutions for the transport sector issues facing the region.
