UKABC Delegation to the

ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS) and Related Events

Lord Vaizey, Chair, UKABC, led a delegation of 15 senior UK business leaders to the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS) 2025 and for a curated programme of side engagements.  

  

UKABC’s delegation took part in: 

  

The UK business delegation included senior leaders from ACCA, Arup, AstraZeneca, Hawksford, HSBC, Jardines, KPMG, Newcastle University, Pearson, Prudential, PwC (UK), Mott MacDonald and Informed Solutions. The delegation was also joined by The UK’s Ambassador to ASEAN, H.E. Helen Fazey, His Majesty’s Deputy Trade Commissioner, Rhiannon Harries and senior representatives from TheCityUK for some meetings.  
 

In addition to attending the Summit, UKABC curated a programme of engagements that included meetings with H.E. Gobind Deo, Minister for Digital of Malaysia, a UKABC Roundtable on AI and Skills, kindly sponsored by Pearson, a UKABC Networking Reception, kindly hosted by HSBC and a UK delegation dinner kindly sponsored by ACCA. 

  

Other meetings in the UKABC organised programme included: 

  • The Chairman and senior team of the Securities Commission of Malaysia 

  • H.E. Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Economic Community 

  • H.E. Ajay Sharma, British High Commissioner to Malaysia 

  • Philippine members of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council 2026 

  • Cambodia members of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council 

  • Indonesia members of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council 

  • Vietnam members of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council 

  • Mr. Ren Hongbin, Chairman, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade 

  

UKABC was also delighted to support ACCA’s The Way Forward: From Kuala Lumpur to Manila – Charting ASEAN’s Sustainable Future and have Lord Vaizey speak in the panel discussion. 

  

At ABIS, Lord Vaizey chaired the session on Digital Economy, MSMEs and E-Commerce that featured the Governor of the Central Bank of Cambodia and senior figures from TikTok and Google. 

  

While travelling, Lord Vaizey had a letter to the Financial Times published that highlighted the UK is now the 4th largest investor in ASEAN.
