UKABC Roundtable Discussion with Martin Kent, HMTC for Asia Pacific

This event was an exclusive in-person conversation with Martin Kent, His Majesty's Trade Commissioner (HMTC) for Asia Pacific. We heard Martin’s updates on the UK’s trade, investment, and trade policy priorities in Asia Pacific. The agenda also included a moderated Q&A session and themed panel discussions focussing on education, mobility, professional qualifications and digital economy developments in Southeast Asia. The event was held at the ACCA office in London.

Martin Kent was appointed His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner (HMTC) for Asia Pacific in September 2023. His career spans both the public and private sectors, bringing a wealth of experience to his role. Most recently he has served as the Minister and Deputy Head of Mission in the British Embassy in Tokyo and as HM Deputy Trade Commissioner to Africa. Martin joined the Civil Service in 2015 as the Deputy Director for Global Operations at UK Trade and Investment. Before this, at the Boston Consulting Group, he worked with multinational companies, including extended periods in Australia and Singapore.
