UKABC Chief Executive guest seminar to the London School of Economics

UK-ASEAN Business Council CEO Ian Gibbons OBE delivered a guest seminar on doing business in Vietnam at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) on 1 September.

The seminar was part of LSE’s Executive Global MSc programme, with around 20 students from 14 countries taking part. Thanks to Professor Christine Cote, Academic Director at LSE, for the invitation.

Ian discussed four main themes: Vietnam’s economic development and reforms, its current geopolitical position, the UK-Vietnam commercial relationship and the practicalities of doing business in the market.

The discussion explored both the opportunities presented by Vietnam’s rapid growth and some of the challenges businesses can encounter when navigating its commercial and regulatory environment. It also considered Vietnam within the wider ASEAN context and the growing importance of the region to international businesses.
