UKABC Roundtable with Matt Western MP, UK Trade Envoy to Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos, 4 June 2025. Hosted by Page Group.

The UK-ASEAN Business Council was delighted to host Matt Western MP, UK Trade Envoy to Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos, on 4 June for an exclusive UKABC partner briefing. This was the second in our series of dialogues with UK Trade Envoys following our initial session with Naz Shah MP.

Matt Western MP introduced his priorities and asks of business in his role as UK Trade Envoy. In response, UKABC partners shared their insights on opportunities in the renewables sector, including offshore wind, infrastructure, digital economy and challenges around talent development and skills, ease of doing business and standards.

Our discussions also served as a reminder that challenges are also opportunities for UK growth. UKABC, working in partnership with our partners, is supporting business-to-government dialogue and the sharing of UK expertise on priorities including the ASEAN Power Grid, talent development and digital economy. Matt Western MP also reinforced the importance of the role that the UK’s deep and longstanding relationships play across the region in support of exports and investment.

Attendees also benefited from an update from the Department for Business and Trade on the developments relating to the UK-Thailand Enhanced Trade Partnership and the progress being made on standards.

UKABC thanks partner company Page Group for hosting this briefing.
