Survey Background – International Economics Consulting Ltd
Note from International Economics Consulting Ltd
Building on what has been a truly successful year for two-way trade and closer economic cooperation between the UK and Southeast Asia, the UK Government – led by the British Embassy Bangkok – recently commissioned a research project designed to identify opportunities for new commercial partnerships between UK cyber security solution providers and consumer organisations across this dynamic and innovative region. The project will have a particular focus on the following five high-growth markets: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam – with additional analysis on Singapore.
As part of our ambition to create a product that is tangible and valuable to organisations seeking to boost their cyber security capabilities, this project will examine important trends across Southeast Asia’s cyber security landscape; identify and assess potential opportunities for new commercial partnerships (public and private sector alike), and analyse routes to market and overall regulatory environment. The United Kingdom (UK) Government is supporting International Economics Consulting Ltd in the development of a Cyber Security Handbook for these purposes. The handbook will serve as a practical ‘go-to’ guide for UK cyber security solution providers seeking to scale up in the region, whilst also providing valuable insights to governments and businesses across the region on how they can continue to attract and foster new business partnerships with UK cyber security companies – contributing to the vision of creating a sustainable competitive market for the supply of digital services set out in the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025.
