Life-cycle assessment of disposable packaging

Tender for a consultancy study for life cycle assessment of common disposable packaging used in Singapore for government agency.

The contractor shall perform the life-cycle assessment (LCA) in accordance, and shall show evidence of adherence, to ISO14040 and ISO14044 standards or equivalent for the covered products commonly used in Singapore as stated in the tender, using a well-established, recognised and scientifically proven LCA database software (e.g. EcodEX, Ecoinvent). The LCA shall be performed in the local context of how the covered products are being produced for, used in and disposed of in Singapore. The minimum environmental impact parameters to be taken into consideration in the LCA study shall include:
• Land use (including solid waste management)
• Global warming/climate change
• Energy resources
• Water use
• Human toxicity (for food-contact materials)
The output of the LCA should be in monetary terms in Singapore dollars (SGD) and shall include all economic cost and environmental externalities. The contractor shall conduct the relevant cost-benefit analysis (CBA) to account for the above stated parameters.
The contractor may be required to front media interviews and/or serve as a spokesperson for the findings of the study even after the completion of the study at no additional cost.
