UK Defence and Security Companies Present in Vietnam
DO YOU HAVE A SUCCESS STORY?
We’d like to hear from you.
Fri, 8 Sep. 2017
On 30 August 2017, the Department for International Trade Defence and Security Organisation (DIT DSO) and the British Embassy together with the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence jointly hosted the largest ever UK defence mission to Vietnam. Fourteen UK defence companies ranging from industry giants to SMEs presented their capability to over 130 personnel across all relevant branches of the military. The audience included three Major Generals and eleven Senior Colonels whose technical expertise and advice are critical for the decision-making process. The presentations were followed by very interactive one-to-one sessions. This was the biggest step forward in UK-Vietnam Defence Industrial Cooperation since it was highlighted as a priority by the then Vietnamese PM during David Cameron’s visit in July 2015.
While the outcomes of this event will ultimately be measured in terms of future business, the unprecedented level of engagement from across Ministry of National Defence is very welcome, and many companies went away with better ideas for their plans for this market, which bodes well for the future.
The companies that participated were:
1. Applied Acoustic Engineering
2. BAE Systems
3. Chemring TS
4. DTM Global
7. Leonardo Helicopters
8. Mimir Marine
9. MSI Defence
10. Rolls Royce
12. Smiths Detection
13. SRT Marine Systems
14. THALES UK
