The Philippines and the United Kingdom discussed enhancing bilateral relations between the Philippines and the UK through closer political cooperation in areas such as defence, organised crime and law enforcement, security and cybersecurity, and consular matters during the Eighth Philippines-UK High-Level Meeting in Manila on 19th November 2018.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Policy, Enrique A. Manalo and the United Kingdom Foreign and Commonwealth Office Director-General for Asia Pacific, Kate White presided over the meeting.
The two countries also tackled more vibrant economic cooperation through increased trade, investment and market access and green finance, and warmer people-to-people linkages in science and technology, education and scholarships, tourism, health and culture.
The latest developments in the Philippines and the UK, as well as regional and international developments, were also highlighted during the meeting. The next High-Level Meeting will be hosted by the UK in 2019.
