Myanmar’s business environment is on the up. Oxford Business Group recently referred to Myanmar as “the most exciting investment destination in Asia, perhaps the world” and with its economy opening up, international investors are excited by the opportunities. It is time for UK businesses to take a fresh look at Myanmar.

According to the World Bank, Myanmar has taken significant steps to create a better business environment. The country has managed to leap up The World Bank’s ‘Ease of starting a business’ category from rock bottom in 2014 to now be ranked 146th out of the 190 nations surveyed. “Myanmar is steadily making progress in creating a business environment that will help the country sustain its strong pace of growth,” said World Bank country manager for Myanmar, Abdoulaye Seck.

On November 28th 2016, the UK-ASEAN Business Council and the newly formed Department for International Trade (DIT) are hosting The Myanmar Trade and Investment Forum. A leading event on this hugely exciting market – bringing Myanmar and its commercial opportunities to the UK.

With UK and Myanmar government speakers, a 40-strong Myanmar business delegation, business breakout workshops and 1-2-1 meetings available – expect a full day.  This Forum will provide   opportunities to learn more about Myanmar, engage extensively with the Myanmar delegation and forge lasting UK-Myanmar partnerships.
