The UK-ASEAN Business Council enjoyed a jam-packed three weeks at the International Festival for Business from 13th June – 1st July 2016. Each week was centred around a different theme, with its finale showcasing the very best of digital and creative technology.
To coincide with this theme, UKABC invited guests to join them at Innovate ASEAN. Innovate focused on how digital is transforming the ASEAN landscape and discussed how British business can expand into this tech savvy region. The event was kicked off by the Philippine Ambassador Evan P. Garcia, followed by Margaret Manning OBE and CEO of Adelphi Digital and Glenn Wiseman, UK Managing Director at NashTech Ltd. Both discussed how they made their brand a success in ASEAN and gave advice on how they navigated the business landscape.
Practical advice was offered by UKTI Singapore’s Senior Trade & Investment Manager, Elise Yim as well as tips on how to protect your intellectual property from Rebecca Kaye, Director at Southeast Asia IPR SME Helpdesk. At the end of the session and before the networking began, we heard from two case studies, Jason Ho of D8ii Ltd and Krishan Meetoo, Proversity. Both gave advice to SME’s looking to expand, while also outlining their own goals in the market.
UKABC would like to especially thank Philippine Airlines for contributing two airline tickets to the day’s proceedings. After drawing her name at random, UKABC were delighted to present two tickets to the Philippines to prize winner Meysi Chae of Liverpool FC. Meysi said she was very excited to visit the region.
