- As of 4 May 2020, all education institutions, including kindergartens, had a staggered return to face-2-face classrooms, depending on age and province.
- Vietnam introduces higher education comparative ranking system called UPM. Nearly 40 universities in Vietnam and in other ASEAN member nations have so far voluntarily applied the UPM system for quality evaluation.
- Ministry of Education and Training considering validation of online teaching. Several tasks should be done in the near future for online teaching to be carried out methodically, including the development of IT infrastructure, digital learning resources, and the introduction of a standardised database connecting all educational institutions nationwide.
- Chances for studying international programmes in Vietnam promoted. Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha emphasised that it is a good opportunity for higher education institutions to receive Vietnamese students studying abroad and foreign students coming to study in Vietnam.
