The Welsh Government will be taking a high-profile trade mission in Singapore at the end of this month. A total of 15 companies from sectors ranging from the life sciences, advanced manufacturing, food and drink, ICT and creative industries will be among those to participate in the mission to Singapore. These companies are a representation of the diversity of the modern Welsh economy and demonstrate that the UK continues to lead in innovative, cutting-edge technology and a world-class standard of products and services for international trade.
The delegation will also be attending the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore’s prestigious Annual Business Awards on 27th September which is a great opportunity for them to interact with the local business community.
Singapore is at the forefront of global trade, being an international hub of business set for impressive economic growth in the years soon to come as a result of being situated on the intersection of major cargo shipping lanes for east and west. Singapore represents approximately half of all UK exports to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, worth over £5.4 billion in 2014, with some goods being forwarded on elsewhere in the region from Singapore.
It’s one of the UK’s most developed trading partners in Asia and one of the few nations around the globe of which the UK holds a trade surplus. The Welsh government is fully supportive of companies participating in this export market event and is collaborating with the British Chamber of Commerce in Singapore to facilitate meetings in this part of Southeast Asia; meetings with equally entrepreneurial companies and potential international customers for exported goods and services.
