Lucy has had 3 careers, in politics in business and in civil service.
Currently, she is a Conservative peer, sitting on the Lords EU Committee (and its Financial Services sub-committee), is Chairman of Crown Agents (a not-for-profit business dating back to 1833) and is a non-executive director of Capita plc, Secure Trust Bank Plc, Thomson Reuters Founders Share Company and Health Data Research UK.
Lucy became a peer in 2013 and was Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Business and Minister for Intellectual Property from 2014-2016. She represented the UK on the Digital Single Market and in the EU Competitiveness Council. From 2016-2017 she was the Minister of State responsible for Energy and then Commercial Secretary at the Treasury.
Lucy’s main career was at Tesco from 1997-2013, as Director for Corporate and Legal Affairs, and she served on the Main Board from 2006-2013.
Lucy has previously been a non-executive director of ITV, PwC, Metro AG and other companies. She was President of EuroCommerce, the Brussels retail and wholesale Trade Association, and served on the China Britain Business Council, the UK India Business Council and the CBI Economics Committee.
Before her career at Tesco she was a civil servant and a member of the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit in Downing Street, having spent her earlier career in what is now DEFRA.
Lucy is a Governor of the London Business School and an honorary fellow of her old college, Somerville College, Oxford. She is married with four sons and is interested in the arts, cricket, racing and gardening. She lives in Southwark and Wiltshire.
UK High-Level Climate Action Champion
Nigel Topping is the UK’s High-Level Climate Action Champion, appointed by the UK Prime Minister in January 2020. Nigel works alongside the Chilean High-Level Climate Action Champion, Gonzalo Muñoz.
The role of the high-level champions is to strengthen collaboration and drive action from businesses, investors, organisations, cities, and regions on climate change, and coordinate this work with governments and parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Nigel was most recently CEO of We Mean Business, a coalition of businesses working to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon economy. Prior to that he was Executive Director of the Carbon Disclosure Project, following an 18 year career in the private sector, having worked across the world in emerging markets and manufacturing.
Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Economic Community
Satvinder Singh is the Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Economic Community for 2021-2024. He supports the Secretary-General of ASEAN by providing leadership in the implementation of the AEC Blueprint 2025 and leads the AEC Department of the ASEAN Secretariat. He also provides strategic advice to advance ASEAN’s economic integration agenda.
Before assuming this role, he was the Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Trade Connectivity & Business Services at Enterprise Singapore, where he was instrumental in strengthening Singapore’s role as Asia’s trading hub, supporting the growth of 15,000 professionals, managers, executives and technicians jobs.
With over 27 years of experience, he has held a variety of local, regional and global management positions across the region. At Enterprise Singapore, Mr Singh oversaw four divisions and drove digitalisation efforts in Singapore amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Singh holds a Bachelor degree in social sciences from the National University of Singapore and attended Harvard’s Business School Advanced Management Programme in 2017.
Director – Sustainability Services, KPMG
Cherine Fok is the practice lead for Sustainability Services and drives KPMG IMPACT global efforts at KPMG Singapore. She has more than 15 years of experience in a wide range of sustainability and decarbonisation projects, specialising in ESG strategies and frameworks, social and economic development, sustainable finance, climate change and ESG measurement, reporting and assurance. By championing cross-functional collaboration and expertise, she helps corporate and public sector clients to address complex ESG and decarbonisation topics.
Cherine has led numerous sustainability advisory engagements across diverse industries. These engagements cover end-to-end client delivery from green economy strategies, decarbonisation roadmaps, climate risk disclosures to impact measurement, sustainable finance framework development and ESG due diligence. For example, she has also assisted a leading global real estate company in issuing Singapore’s first green bond.
Currently, Cherine is a Council Member of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore and Member of the British Chamber of Commerce’s Sustainability Committee. She is part of Green Finance Working Group of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. She is also a non-practising member and Corporate Reporting Committee Member of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA).
Chief Sustainability Officer, City Developments Limited
An active advocate for green building and sustainability for over two decades, Esther has been instrumental in establishing CDL’s leadership in sustainability. It is ranked top real estate company on the 2021 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World and is also the only CDP A-List company for both climate strategy and water security in SE Asia and Hong Kong.
Key ESG initiatives she has spearheaded include publishing the first sustainability report in Singapore in 2008; issuing the first green bond by a Singaporean company in 2017 and pioneering an SDG Innovation Loan in Singapore in 2019.
A forerunner in embracing the UN SDGs, Esther was conferred 2018 SDG Pioneer for Green Infrastructure and A Low Carbon Economy by the UN Global Compact, is a signatory for the UNGC Caring for Climate network and is also a corporate member to the UN ESCAP Sustainable Business Network.
She sits on the boards or advisory platforms of several organisations, including World Green Building Council, Global Reporting Initiative, GRESB Asian Real Estate Benchmark Committee and UNEP FI Real Estate Work Group. She Chairs the Asia Pacific Real Estate Association’s Sustainability and ESG Committee, Co-Chairs the Urban Land Institute Singapore’s Sustainability Product Council and Vice-Chairs the Singapore Institute of Directors’ ESG Committee.
VP, Global SHE and Operations Sustainability, AstraZeneca
Juliette White is VP for Global SHE and Sustainability, based in UK, and has 30 years’ service with AZ.
Juliette graduated with a degree in Psychology and during her time with the Company has held a wide number of HR roles both in UK and US, including a period of time in a Supply Chain role within Operations.
Juliette has been leading the AZ Supply Chain response to Brexit preparations and for the last year has been leading the UK Crisis team in response to COVID19. In her role within Sustainability, Juliette holds accountability for our carbon zero programmes.
