The webinar will provide practical advice to European SMEs related to geographical indications (GIs) as a tool for protecting EU food products, beverages and handicrafts in Vietnam. The expert will provide an overview of how the current IP landscape in Vietnam relates to GI’s, as well as expert tips and practical suggestions how EU SMEs expanding into Vietnam can make good use of it. Furthermore, practical case studies will be presented throughout the webinar.
The presentation will introduce the South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesk and relevant topics related to the GI protection in Vietnam, including an introduction to the GI concept and the GI scenario in Vietnam, the current relations between the EU and Vietnam concerning GIs (including the status of GIs under the EU-Vietnam FTA), followed by an overview of the procedure that EU GIs should follow to be protected in Vietnam, with some tips from the experience of EU GIs already protected in Vietnam.
