Seminar: The UKVFTA – Green and Fair Trade with Vietnam

About this event

The British Embassy in Hanoi is collaborating with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to co-organise a hybrid event to promote the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) with a focus on green and fair trade opportunities with Vietnam on 7th March 2023 in both virtual and in-person format.

The seminar provides a platform for discussion on the UK’s green and fair trade with Vietnam through the UKVFTA, commitments on renewable energy generation, plans to implement these commitments and opportunities/challenges in renewable energy development in Vietnam.

In the UKVFTA, Chapter 7 on ‘Non-Tariff Barriers to Trade and Investment in Renewable Energy Generation’ covers specific rules for the renewable energy sector on non-discriminatory treatment in general (licensing and authorisation procedures), on local content in particular and further on the use of international standards.

This event will provide a platform for UK-Vietnam policymakers and businesses in the renewable energy sector to discuss and share best practices on legislation and policy progress to comply with the commitments in this Chapter.

Who this event is suitable for

UK Businesses who are interested in investment opportunities in the energy sector in Vietnam.

Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade, the UK Department for Business and Trade, the UK Embassy in Vietnam, renewable energy companies, associations, economic researchers, and stakeholders.
