The UK Department for International Development (DFID) is tackling the global challenges of our time including poverty and disease, mass migration, insecurity and conflict. Their work is building a safer, healthier, more prosperous world for people in developing countries and in the UK too.
To aid in this work DFID is committed to reaching out to local SME organisations and invite them to explore opportunities to work with the UK government to deliver on their agenda. SMEs are defined as firms with under 250 employees and an annual turnover of less than €50 million. This invitation is extended to all relevant SME organisations and interested local business representatives who may be interested in understanding more about the services DFID buy and fund and how to deliver market-leading development services on behalf of the UK Government.
The Department for International Development (DFID) spends about 14% (about £1.4bn) of its total budget through commercial contracts. This is done through open competitive tenders which any organisation can apply for.
Join this interactive workshop hosted by the British Expertise International (BEI) as the DFID team, including the Procurement and Commercial Department walks through and demystifies what it takes to deliver projects on DFID’s behalf. The workshop will include:
- An Introduction to DFID, UK Aid services and overseas working
- An overview of the benefits of working and adopting DFID Procurement Reform
- A panel discussion on “Myth Busting” perceptions on working with DFID
This event is aimed mainly at small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
