EXPLORING OPPORTUNITIES IN THE THRIVING PHILIPPINE F&B SECTOR

The growth of the Food and Beverage sector is primarily driven by the Philippines’ growing middle class with an increased consumer spending. In Q1 of 2016, the total household consumption value for F&B (including alchoholic beverages) was PHP 1,000,609 million (19,150 million EUR), which comprises 40.7% of the whole household expenditure.
The F&B processing industry of the Philippines involves the following major sectors: fruits and vegetables, meat and poultry, dairy, seafood products, coffee and cacao, condiments and seasonings, fats and oils, bakery products, sugar and confectionery, and beverages. Food manufacturing tops the manufacturing industry sector during the 1st quarter of 2015 with a Gross Added Value, at current prices, of about PHP 300 billion (5.7 billion EUR) and grew by 5.5%. As for the beverage industries, it grew by 32.0% in the same period whereas it generated about more than PHP 21 billion (0.5 billion EUR).
