Malaysia is one of the very few ASEAN countries that are investing heavily into development of an advanced IoT ecosystem due to their robust manufacturing sector.
MIMOS Berhad, the Malaysian national research & development centre in ICT has introduced the National Internet-of-Things Roadmap to further accelerate the proliferation of the technology and establish Malaysia as the regional development hub for IoT. MIMOS and MDEC are expecting the implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT) to contribute RM9.5 billion (£1.6 billion at current rates) to the country’s gross national income (GNI) by 2020, and RM42.5 billion (£7.4 billion) by 2025.
