Malaysia is heavily invested in accelerating the Big Data Analytics (BDA) adoption and innovation within the country. The government is pushing for Malaysia to become a BDA hub in ASEAN and there are already plans for Big Data Innovation Centres of Excellence to assist companies in expanding their businesses with big data. Malaysia is also one of the very few countries in the world with a structured national Big Data Analytics (BDA) initiative.
The country’s vision is to be a leading BDA hub in the ASEAN region by 2020. To achieve this, MDEC has focused on 3 imperative – data science talent development, data availability and open innovation. MDEC is working with partners in the public sector, private sector and the academia to drive various initiatives pertaining to these 3 imperatives in.
