International Schools Mission to Cambodia & Vietnam

REGISTER FOR REGULAR UPDATES

Vietnam is confident in its economic prospects, ambitious within the region, and keen to raise its profile globally. The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has developed a clear vision to improve the quality of learning and teaching across the country and UK Education is highly regarded and is one of the key pillars in the UK-Vietnam bilateral strategic partnership.

Vietnam is increasingly becoming a market for international school operators, driven by high GDP growth, increasing disposable income and a young population. Another positive development is the passing of Decree 86, allowing an increase in the number of Vietnamese students allowed to enrol in local international schools to up to 49% of the school population.

As a result of these developments, the Department for International Trade (DIT), will lead a UK schools’ mission to Vietnam, timed to coincide with the UK/Vietnam Joint Economic & Trade Committee (JETCO) talks in Vietnam. In the margins, DIT and MOET will also be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in education.

Whilst in the region, we will take the opportunity to undertake a programme in Cambodia where there are a number of investment groups, some of whom already have schools’ investments and many who have expressed interest in growing the private sector offer, in Cambodia.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage with potential investors and existing private schools
  • Meet with senior officials from the Ministries of Education in Vietnam and Cambodia
  • Participate in networking events
  • Better understand the operating environment & franchise options for private schools
  • Work with local DIT staff on follow-up

Dates & Locations:

  • 30th September – 1st October: Phnom Penh
  • 2nd – 3rd October: Ho Chi Minh City
  • 3rd – 4th October: Hanoi

Participants are responsible for their airfare, accommodation and insurance. DIT will provide local group transport, venues, local RSVP management and overall coordination.

Applications will be vetted.

DIT are also taking the opportunity of the high profile JETCO and MoU events to lead a separate, Higher Education mission to both markets.
