In addition to the Presidential election, around 245,000 candidates ran for more than 20,000 national and local legislative seats across the sprawling archipelago of Indonesia that comprises over 17,000 islands. Over 800,000 polling stations were needed for the 182 million voters for the single-day election.
The official results of the Indonesian election will be announced on 22nd May. This will be an opportunity to hear what the results mean for Indonesia’s future.
