Asia is set to dominate the global economy by 2050, approaching a staggering 50% of world GDP compared with around 20% today. The UK is well placed to play a key role in what is being dubbed the ‘Asian Century’. It has a strong trading relationship within Asian markets, but more UK companies need to position themselves now, to take advantage of the popularity of ‘Brand Britain’ and the predicted increase in the level of opportunities over the coming decades.
The UK-ASEAN Business Council joined with UK India Business Council, and China Britain Business Council at the IFB2016 for the Pan Asia Conference, which looked at the UK’s future role as one of Asia’s key growth partners in the next century. The conference began with a business networking breakfast and closed with further discussions over lunch.
Sessions:
- Political overviews from senior Asian government officials
- Highlighting what are likely to be some of the key growth sectors over the coming decades
- Discussions with UK business leaders that have invested in Asia about how they are positioning their companies for future growth
- Learning from Asian inward investors about their UK journey.
