Join the EU-Vietnam Business Network in Vietnam for their 2016 Healthcare trade mission.
This trade mission offers you the opportunity to introduce your products and your know-how directly to your healthcare counterparts in Vietnam. When in the region you will meet distributors, partners and buyers as well as European players already established in Vietnam, giving you the opportunity to hear about their experience of entering the market.
Vietnam by numbers
Vietnam is a market of great prospects, with a GDP that has more than doubled in the last 10 years, going up to 6.4 per cent in 2015 and forecast to reach 7 per cent in 2016. Its population was 93.9 million in 2015 with a GDP per capita of US$2,200. Such appealing figures prove why Vietnam’s healthcare market should be considered by all those in the sector.
Healthcare industry
The government spending on healthcare currently stands at 7 to 8 percent of Vietnam’s GDP. The Pharmaceutical market was valued at US$3.30 billion in 2013 and its consumption is expected to reach US$7.06 billion by 2018. The pharmaceutical market is still very much characterised by imported drugs, with its biggest exporters: France, India, South Korea, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
However, Vietnam’s medical device market is also growing steadily, reaching an estimated market size of US$200 million in 2013, with 90 per cent of medical devices imported. The number of hospitals in Vietnam has risen to 1,063 (of which only around 12 percent are private), Government funded hospitals account for 70 per cent of demand for medical devices.
