The Department for International Trade invites you to Vietnam to explore the government’s plans for the privatisation of state-owned enterprises (some of the biggest companies in the country) and seek out business opportunities in the financial and professional services sectors.
State-owned enterprises (SOEs) are a significant part of Vietnam’s economy; the total assets of SOEs correspond to 74% of Vietnam GDP. The government has made a strong commitment to SOE reform and privatisation but there is still much to do. In recent years, with some notable exceptions, Vietnam has not been able to achieve the level of privatisation it wanted. Plans are no less ambitious and there will be over 100 SOEs to be privatised in the period 2018-2020. These SOEs will need advice so they are marketable to international investors as well as advice to improve the efficiency of their businesses.
The mission will also focus on opportunities for financial and professional services companies in the aid sector with projects funded by World Bank, Asian Development Bank and bilateral donors.
The programme is free to attend, but spaces are limited. Participants are responsible for flight, insurance and accommodation costs.
