ASEAN UK TVET SHOWCASE

REGISTER FOR REGULAR UPDATES

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to meet the SE Asian teams from the Department of International Trade and Jonathan Ledger, TVET Specialist from DIT to learn about the TVET opportunities in SE Asia.  Learn also about the strengths of the UK’s TVET System that features 26,450 national qualifications and caters for 3.4 million TVET students annually!  There’s also the opportunity to meet some of the UK’s leading TVET companies; many are active in the ASEAN region.

The UK has a long history of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) dating back to the 12th century. More recently, the UK TVET system has undergone a lengthy and substantive reforms process, so that the UK’s current and future workforce has the training and support, to achieve the high-level skills required, to succeed in today’s global economy.

DIT aims to share the UK’s TVET expertise and experience and unique skills methodology, rather than an off-the-shelf TVET system, so countries can create and build their own bespoke skills system; that’s fit for their country’s industry needs, human resource strategy, economic development and future growth and prosperity.

The estimated value of the TVET market in ASEAN is US$1.84 billion.  The region has a shortage and mismatch of professional skills with the need for more TVET graduates and the better matching of skills development to industry need, a common issue across ASEAN.

To address these skills shortages, Governments in ASEAN are investing increasing resources into this segment of the market.

Jonathan LedgerTVET Specialist from the Department for International Trade, will attend and speak or lead at:

  • 29th August: TVET Workshop with Malaysian Education and Human Resources Ministries and other stakeholders concerned with TVET – Kuala Lumpur
  • 31st August – 2nd September: WorldSkills ASEAN 2018 – Bangkok
  • 4th – 5th September: South East Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) 4th High Officials Meeting on SEA-TVET – Manila.
